Tips for a Stress-Free Holiday Season
It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

While this may be true for many of us, others find the holiday season overwhelming and stressful.

Here are a few simple tips to help you enjoy the holiday season.

Shop local - Always try to support your local independent businesses; you’ll feel great knowing that this practice will benefit your community! If you need to purchase gift cards, buy ones that can be used to make memories with the recipient, such as active outings or a meal on the town.

Take time for yourself - You can’t take care of others if you don’t first take care of yourself! If you have time off from work this month, it’s a great opportunity to take advantage of unused health benefits such as chiropractic care or massage therapy.

Get active – Don’t let the colder temperatures stop you from enjoying the great outdoors. Exercise, especially outdoors is a fantastic way to relieve stress.

Keep things in perspective - It’s not about perfection; it’s about doing your best. Don’t worry if you can’t meet every obligation, purchase or wrap the perfect gift - rather focus on being present.

Have a designated driver - You’ll better enjoy your events and outings when you plan for a safe way home. Always have a sober designated driver, call a cab, stay the night or hire a ride home.

Do something good for others - Drop in on neighbours or those who may be suffering from loneliness during this time of year, it will make them and you feel better. A little kindness can go a long way.

Take care of the things you’ve been putting off - You’ll better enjoy the holiday season and feel accomplished about the upcoming year-end if you take care of the things you’ve been putting off, such as updating your will, organizing and safely storing your important documents, or obtaining life insurance... to name a few!
